At least 10 senior bankers at ANZ Group are set to leave the Australian lender by October, according to people familiar with the matter and an internal memo, as new chief executive Nuno Matos pushes ahead with a sweeping overhaul of the business.

In Hong Kong, John Corrin, head of corporate finance, international, and Andrew Harward, who holds the dual role of head of corporate finance for North Asia and head of structured asset finance, international, are both set to depart on October 1. Both have spent more than 16 years at the bank.

In Singapore, Ian Mathews, executive director for project, export and sustainable finance and a nearly 30-year veteran of ANZ, is due to begin gardening leave early next month. In Sydney, David Roberts, executive director for innovative transition solutions, is exiting as the bank winds down its non-bank environmental, social and governance origination and independent financial advisory function, a move that is also affecting other Australia-based staff. Roberts has more than 15 years at ANZ. Aaron Ross, global head of project, export and asset finance, who joined the bank in 2001, is also among those leaving.

The departures are part of a five-year strategy Matos has been executing since taking the CEO role in May 2025, aimed at cutting duplication and costs across the bank. ANZ has said the broader restructuring will see roughly 3,500 employees leave the organization. An ANZ media representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the latest departures.

The exits underscore how deeply the overhaul is reaching into ANZ’s senior ranks across its key Asia-Pacific hubs, touching corporate finance, structured asset finance and sustainable finance teams that have anchored the bank’s international dealmaking for well over a decade.
