New York, April 22, 2025 —
As the world marked the 55th Anniversary of Earth Day, international finance and sustainability expert Maria Spartalis stood at the heart of Times Square to deliver a clear message: the planet needs more than promises — it needs investment.
Co-hosting the event with Reverend Paul Sladkus, founder of Good News Corporation, Spartalis addressed a global audience gathered for an open-air concert and environmental exhibition at the Times Square Pedestrian Plaza. The event, themed “Our Power, Our Planet,” was aligned with EarthDay.org’s 2025 campaign calling for urgent climate action.

“Now is the time for financial leaders to act,” Spartalis declared. “The green transition is not just about policy — it’s about capital. Sustainable finance is the bridge to a livable future.”
The celebration brought together musicians, activists, and global influencers. Performers included OMMM with their anthem “Love Your Mother,” Jarvis Smith, Antonique Smith, and AY Young. Virtual appearances by Ringo Starr, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Jane Goodall, and Shakira (representing UNICEF) further energized the crowd. The UN Development Programme and the Equator Initiative also took part.
Adding to the cultural richness of the evening were performances by soprano Giorgia Fumanti and renowned pianist Katya Grineva, both lending their voices to the call for global sustainability.
After the show, Spartalis met with representatives from Valley Bank, Hugg A Planet, American Oriental Arts Foundation, Swift Rails, Necromantic Brew Co., Gitterman Wealth Management, PEP Real Estate/Tribeca Records, and others — many of whom pledged to support green startups and sustainable development initiatives.

As New York celebrates its 400th anniversary, Spartalis offered a forward-looking vision: “Let this milestone not only honor our past but ignite a future driven by climate responsibility and smart investment.”
With her background in international banking and environmental strategy, Maria Spartalis continues to be a leading voice at the intersection of finance and the fight for a healthier planet.
