Art Dubai 2025 Opens Doors to a New Era of Artistic Exchange
Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of the Dubai Council, officially inaugurated Art Dubai 2025, reaffirming the emirate’s global leadership in the creative and cultural sectors. Now recognized as the Middle East’s premier international art fair, this year’s edition brings together over 120 galleries from 65 cities across five continents, showcasing the dynamic and evolving landscape of global contemporary art.
Organized under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and in strategic partnership with Dubai Culture, Art Dubai 2025 continues to elevate Dubai’s status as a vibrant cultural capital. Sheikha Latifa toured the fair’s key sections—including Contemporary, Modern, Digital, and Bawwaba—engaging directly with artists, curators, and gallery representatives from around the world.
She praised Art Dubai’s transformation into a truly global platform for artistic dialogue, stating:
“Art Dubai continues to be a celebration of creativity and innovation, and a reflection of the cultural diversity that defines our city. Each edition introduces new voices and narratives that connect us, reminding us of the power of art to bring people and ideas together.”
A notable highlight of her visit was the Common Grounds exhibition, curated by Zayed University students Shamsa Al Qubaisi, Maryam Al Zaabi, and Sara Al Sulaimani under the mentorship of Dr. Nada Shabout and Magalí Arriola. Featuring selected works from the Dubai Collection (1949–2024), the exhibition reflects an academic-first collaboration that bridges education, research, and curatorial practice. It emphasizes the role of youth in shaping the future of cultural stewardship.
Demonstrating commitment to this vision, Sheikha Latifa and H.E. Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development and Chair of Zayed University’s Board of Trustees, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dubai Culture and Zayed University. The agreement, signed by Hala Badri (Director General of Dubai Culture) and Professor Michael Allen (Acting Vice President of Zayed University), lays the groundwork for strategic collaboration in areas such as creative research, academic exchange, and cultural programming.
Sheikha Latifa commented:
“This partnership reflects our conviction that education and culture are deeply interconnected. By empowering students to contribute meaningfully to our cultural landscape, we are nurturing emerging talent and fostering pride, purpose, and innovation among future generations.”
The event concluded with Sheikha Latifa reaffirming Dubai Culture’s dedication to building sustainable cultural ecosystems—ones that nurture creativity, support artistic growth, and ensure that the next generation has the tools and platforms needed to lead the cultural evolution of the UAE and beyond.
